Each Year group has school council representatives who meet together to plan things for our school and discuss important issues. These are elected each year by the pupils in each class.

Each Class has nominated Eco-Council representatives who work together to discuss and monitor how our school can be environmentally friendly. Their roles might include:

• Discussing new areas and activities for our school
• Monitoring usage (and potentially waste) of electricity, water or food
• Helping promote bio-diversity within our school

Within school, we encourage pupils to take responsibility for themselves, others and their environment. We encourage our pupils to have an active role in ensuring that our school is a lovely place for every person within our community. 

Some responsibilities that the children might be a part of include:

• Being a buddy for another pupil who needs some help
• Litter collection using correct litter picking equipment
• Helping to set up for assemblies and events
• Helping to tidy parts of the school - libraries, school hall after lunch etc
• Guiding and leading play activities at lunchtimes
• Showing visitors around our school

Within each class, there are some roles and responsibilities. The children enjoy having the opportunity to lead in particular ways. The responsibilities vary according to the class and the age of the children but may include:

• Line leader
• Visual timetable monitor
• Giving out or collecting resources
• Keeping particular classroom areas tidy
• Laptop/IT monitor
• Buddy for another pupil
