School staff communicate with parents using a range of methods.

School Website

The website includes information about the school that is available to the wider public. This includes key information as well as more specific information about the aims and vision of the school and how this is implemented in policy and practice.

Class Dojo

General updates or reminders are sent out via Class Dojo. All parents are expected to sign up to the platform so that they are able to keep up to date with things going on at school. For safeguarding reasons, there is certain information that we do not share on the school website as it is information for our families only. For example, advance information about trips and visits or photos taken at school. 

There is a school story page for school wide news and information sharing, and class pages for specific information relevant to your child.

Letters, information about clubs and links may also be sent out on Class Dojo.

Tapestry

In our Early Years Reception Class, we use Tapestry as our recording platform. This records observations made about your children's learning. These are shared with the relevant families. The observations aim to keep families informed about key progress rather than a regular diary of activity. At the end of each child's time in reception, a pdf of each child's journey is shared with families.

School Newsletter

Our school newsletter is usually shared weekly, and it aims to give information about what has been happening in school. This will also include dates for generic school wide events. The newsletter usually includes a 'School Update' section which aims to keep parents informed about key information, changes, reminders or policy updates.

Pupil Progress Meetings

In the Autumn and Spring Term, families are invited to meet with their child's class teacher for a discussion about progress and targets.

End of Year Report

Each year, teachers complete a written end of year report so that families can read about their child's progress across the year. This will outline their child's attainment for each curriculum subject and give a written overview. Statutory data (Reception, Year 1 Phonics, Year 4 Multiplications and Year 6 Assessments) will be shared within or alongside this report.

Events

Throughout the year, we have a number of events which can involve families. These are opportunities to share what the children have been learning and for families to be a part of the children's educational experience.

Ad hoc phone calls or meetings

If teachers or school staff feel it is necessary to share or seek information, we will not wait until there is a planned opportunity such as pupil progress meetings. We will be in touch or may request a meeting. It is important that school and families work together to support our pupils, and we can therefore be flexible in the arrangements for these.

Children with Special Educational Needs

Teachers will share relevant documentation with families and provide opportunities for discussion or review as required. The school SENCO and other relevant staff or external professionals will be part of the annual review of all children with an EHCP.

Children who are in Care

Regular Personal Education Plan meetings will be carried out with families, school staff and other relevant professionals.

How you can communicate with us

We aim to have good relationships with all in our community and welcome parents to ask questions and communicate with us. Staff are usually available for brief conversations at the beginning or end of the day. However, families can also contact the office to share information or to request a phone call or meeting with school staff. Usually, the class teacher is the first point of contact.
