Spring Term

During the Spring term Shamrock class have been writing adventure stories, researching and finding out all about mountains and rivers and finding fractions of amounts in Maths.  For P.E, they really enjoyed tennis and working on hand eye co-ordination linked to forehand and backhand strokes.  All of the class worked hard on their water colour William Morris patterns.  

In Shamrock class the children have been working hard in all areas.  They have enjoyed writing their fantasy stories in English.

Within Maths, the focus has been on times tables linked to multiplication and division problems.

For P.E we have been learning about fitness, stamina and reaction, the children have really enjoyed all the activities!

So far in the Autumn term we have looked at :-

• English - Katherine Johnson and information texts.
• Maths - the children have focussed on place value, moving on to addition.
• Science – the digestive system and teeth.
• Project – all about Anglo Saxons and Vikings.

As well as working hard in all these areas the children recently had a visit from Wisbech Museum, Peckover House and Wisbech Library, which they thoroughly enjoyed!

Our first week

A super start to the year in Shamrock class.  The children have all settled well and really enjoyed learning about Ireland. They learnt about Irish History, Geography, Sport and Art and completed some wonderful fact files.  Here are some examples of areas we covered.

History - The children looked at important Irish figures and the importance of St Patrick.

Geography - We looked at where Ireland is located, the number of people who live there and the landscape.

P.E - It was amazing to watch the river dance and have a go ourselves!

Art - Drawing some important Irish figures and logos, such as the Shamrock, Irish dancers, sporting figures.

Overall the children had a brilliant week and had fantastic learning experiences.
