Our class is named after the author Beatrix Potter. 

The teacher in Potter class is Mrs Wardill.

The teaching assistants are Mrs Mascall, Mrs Wainwright and Miss Duffy.

Getting Ready for the Phonic Screening Check 

In Year 1, the children will have a Phonics screening check to assess how they apply their phonic knowledge to decode words. Any child who does not meet the threshold in Year 1 will have another assessment in Year 2. Reading is an important skill for accessing the whole of the school curriculum. As such, it is a high priority in Early Years and Key Stage One.

In school, we teach phonics using Read Write Inc. We will work closely with families to ensure that all children receive the right support to make progress with their reading. Below is a folder of some resources that can be used at home.

We encourage children to read at home between 3-5 times each week to develop their fluency in reading.
