Key Priorities 2025-2026

Our Key priorities have been identified with the consideration that good practice in place must be sustained and evolved. Our key priorities are areas of focus over the coming year. 

•Writing is effectively supplemented to ensure full coverage and the development of skills

•Teaching of maths using a range of sources effectively develops skills of mastery

•Assessment of Foundation subjects shows progress over time

•Children’s individual needs are met through a consistent therapeutic approach to behaviour and inclusion

•Phonics results are in line with or better than National

How can Parents and Carers help with this?

Writing

• encourage your child to read widely as this really helps to develop their vocabulary.  Read daily, selecting texts with appropriate challenge and of different types. Discuss books and texts that are read. Read to your child and discuss texts. Model good reading behaviours in the household, children are more likely to enjoy reading if they have positive reading role models. 
• Talk to your children about their writing in school - show and interest and help challenge their ideas and vocabulary
• Help children to learn to spell words as per those set out in the national curriculum

The curriculum

• encourage your child to talk to the teacher about what interests them.
• Ask your children about what they are learning in school, show an interest in their curriculum

Assessment

The national expectations for what children are expected to know and do are significant. To see the expectations in each subject, have a look below.

Attendance
Most children attend school every day unless they are very ill, some unfortunately do not. As we are a small school this has a big impact on our overall attendance compared to national averages. Please remember;

• no holiday are granted in school time

• appointments for the doctor and dentist can usually be made out of school hours; please try to do this where possible

• if your child is very sick, please ring school (01945 700275) to let us know

• please provide medical proof if your child has an unavoidable medical appointment in school hours

• if there is an unavoidable appointment, please return you child to school for the rest of the day once the appointment is finished
