Your Child's Attendance at School
Every day matters right from the first day in Reception. When children are absent from school they miss learning opportunities across all areas of their education, including their social and emotional learning and development. This creates gaps in their knowledge, understanding and skills and limits their access to the wider opportunities that school can offer. We place a high priority on children acquiring a sense of commitment towards regular attendance at school so that your child can fully access their education, opportunities and experiences and create positive attendance habits which can then follow them throughout their life.
Our focus at Alderman Payne Primary School will always be to work in partnership with families in order to achieve success for all and to enable all children to reach their full potential. We understand that there can be many factors that impact attendance which can be difficult and we are here to help.
Attendance Policy and requesting leave of absence
Where possible any appointments should be made out of school hours. The attendance policy, under DfE and Cambridgeshire Guidance states that there may occasionally be exceptional circumstances for absence. These are occurrences which are rare, unavoidable and short. These will be considered on an individual basis.
A form must be completed to request a leave of absence from school during term time in advance of the absence.
