The teacher in Rose class is Mrs Wardill
The children stay in the same class for two years, so we work on a two year cycle for the curriculum. This ensures that children do not repeat a year.
To find out what we teach in the Year One/Two class, look below.
Information
It is a school expectation that children practice their times tables at home at least three times a week and that they read at home at least three times a week. All children start with the ten times tables, they then proceed on to their 5s, 2s before taking their Bronze award.
Spellings are given half termly on Class Dojo and will be assessed Friday mornings each week. Please see below for the words that your child should be able to read and spell by the end of year 1 and 2.
Getting Ready for the Phonic Screening Check
In Year 1, the children will have a Phonics screening check to assess how they apply their phonic knowledge to decode words. Any chil who does not meet the threshold in Year 1 will have another assessment in Year 2. Reading is an important skill for accessing the whole of the school curriculum, as such it is a high priority in Early Years and Key Stage One.
In school, we teach phonics using Read Write Inc. We will work closely with families to ensure that all children receive the right support to make progress with their reading. Below is a folder of some resources that can be used at home.
