About us
Alderman Payne Primary School is a small village school located near to the town of Wisbech in Cambridgeshire. We are a community school that admits 15 children per year into Reception. We also admit children at other times of the year if we have a space, for example if you have moved into Parson Drove village or the surrounding area.
We work closely with the private Pre school which is on our site. They take children from 2 years old. If you wish to apply for a place at Parson Drove Pre School, their contact number is 01945 700 496.
We have a wonderful playground with a storyteller's chair, giant mushrooms, a trim trail, a den building area, a pirate ship, that the children enjoy using. We built a recycled greenhouse out of plastic bottles and use it to grow fruit and vegetables in the summer. We created a Jubilee Wildlife Garden to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee. We have a World War Two bunker in the front of the school that we made to help the children understand about the war.
Our latest addition to the playground is our fabulous library bus which helps to encourage our children to love their reading.
We are lucky enough to have our own swimming pool and this means that the children learn to swim from Reception upwards. If you want to have a look at some of the things we do in school, have a look at our "Yearbook" in the Children's section of the website. This will give you a very good idea of our curriculum and the amount of fun we have. We also have a school dog called Boris (Labradoodle) who comes in for hot choc with the dogs. He is sometimes accompanied by his friend Arthur (Jackadachadoodle; yes, that breed really does exist!) or Monty, the latest addition to our school. We have a Breakfast Club which runs from 8am until school starts. This is £2.00 per day with no need to book in advance.
You are very welcome to visit our school to have a look around and decide if our environment and ethos is suitable for your child. Please contact the school office on 01945 700 275 to arrange to visit.

The Aims and Values of Our School
Enjoy and achieve
Through our linked curriculum, we develop learners who are resilient, independent, enthusiastic and determined to improve. We teach our children that a mistake is the opportunity to learn something new. We expect all children to achieve their personal best irrespective of their starting point and celebrate this individual success.
Make a positive contribution
Our children develop pride in themselves, their family, their school and their community. We teach them to value themselves and others, to be open minded, and to have the confidence to participate fully in the wider world.
Stay safe
We teach our children to solve problems and recognise and assess risks, to learn to make good choices and understanding the consequences of their actions as the children progress throughout the school. We seek to develop their understanding of potential risks in the wider world and strategies to stay safe.
Be Healthy
Our children learn about the importance of good health and physical activity; how to respect themselves and others, and to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Achieve social & economic well being
We seek to develop interpersonal skills, the ability to manage change, and a good work ethos to ensure our children achieve social & economic well being as adults, and continue with their life long learning.
Developing a love of learning and confidence underpin all that we do in order that our children ultimately become responsible, thinking citizens in adult life.
Welcome to our school!
